Man poured acid over his girlfriend's face and set her on fire

acid

A 24-year-old woman is in hospital receiving treatment for an acid burn inflicted on her by her jealous lover over something as simple as sharing the photo of her dog with her ex. 24-year-old Yekaterina M had to endure hours of torture as her boyfriend, Vyatcheslav, poured acid on her, pinned her down then set her on fire in an apartment in Moscow, Russia.

It had all started when she took a prank photo of her dog that she co-owned with her ex sitting on the door of the oven. Her current man saw the photo and told her not to share it with her ex, but she did and Vyatcheslav saw the chat, got angry and carried out the brutal attack on her.

"The shirt I was wearing immediately started to burn”, she said of the alleged assault in Moscow. I was trying to take it off, but he held me. Only later did he turn on the shower and put out the flames."

The victim suffered severe burns but Vyatcheslav, allegedly kept her in the flat away from medical treatment for two hours. Photos show the woman in hospital with her head, chest and arms covered in bandages.

Explaining the attack, Yekaterina said it happened after a night in with friends after which she took the photo that cause the problem.

"He asked me not to share this photo, but I did, in our chat," she said. Then when he found the photo in her sent box, he became enraged and attacked her.
She said:

"He thought that I wanted to get back with my ex. He told me that I had five minutes to leave the place. My dog was still in there, so I could not abandon it there. I was trying to make a joke out of the situation."

Police are currently investigating the man about the alleged attack, while medics are reportedly hopeful Yekaterina will make a full recovery.

Photo: Thief Returns Car 21 Years After It Was Reported Stolen

A woman whose car was stolen in Johannesburg 21 years ago couldn't believe her ears when police told her it had been found.

However, seeing is believing, and when Merna Meyer got to the Newcastle police pound, she had no doubts that it was her Ford Laser,

Photo: Thief Returns Car 21 Years After It Was Reported Stolen

According to SA news medium, Netwerk24:

"I recognised the sporty look, red and green stripes on the sides and tow bar. Even the colour is still the same beige."The front looked a bit different and the steering wheel had been replaced with a racing one, she said at North West University's Potchefstroom campus on Thursday.Meyer was full of praise for warrant officers Gary Holmes and Derick Putter of the Newcastle car theft unit for tracking her down. They spent months trying to find her because the car had been registered in her maiden name, Pretorius.

"They kept on trying, until they phoned me two months ago. When I picked up the phone, a policeman said: 'We've had a hard time tracking you down, where have you been hiding?'"Meyer was in her 20s when the car was stolen outside a friend's house in Melville in 1996. She had just resigned from the SABC and was due to leave for the UK a few days later to do a course in animation.

After reporting the car missing, Meyer said she had never heard from the police again.

The Newcastle police became suspicious when the alleged owner of the car came to the police station in 2016 to get a vehicle clearance certificate. They noticed that it had false serial numbers and, using chemicals, managed to uncover the original ones.

No arrests have been made yet.

''We've got incredible talent here and the world needs to know”

Gossip-bennaija

This week, CNN’s ‘African Voices’ features Mo Abudu, one of Africa’s most prominent media figures, who has operated across both television and film in her career.

Reporting from Lagos, Nigeria, the programme joins Abudu in her studio, where she serves as CEO of EbonyLife Television and EbonyLife Films.

Explaining how she began her career in media, Abudu tells ‘African Voices’:

“I wanted to be known for something. I wanted to do something that would change the world, but I just couldn't figure out what it would be.”
In 11 years, Abudu has moved from hosting her own TV show to owning and running one of Nigeria’s most premier television networks and a film studio.

Abudu explains to ‘African Voices’ how significant she feels it is to be operating at the highest level
of her industry:

“It's incredible the impact that media has on our lives. It's important for us, as people of colour and as a black person sitting here today, I know how important it is to have people I can look up to that represent me in media.”

top blog bennaija

Growing up, Abudu lived between Nigeria and England, which eventually shaped her future goals in media, despite experimenting with many different hobbies during her childhood. Abudu explains to ‘African Voices’:

“At one point I wanted to dance, I wanted to be a model, I wanted to write. It's interesting that I'm doing what I'm doing now, because you go all the way around in life doing different things, until you finally get to a point where you know you have found that thing that God wants you to do.”

The programme hears how her first foray into media began with a talk show in 2006 called ‘Moments with Mo’, where Abudu interviewed the likes of Hillary Clinton, Christine Lagarde and several notable heads of state from across Africa.

‘African Voices’ accompanies Abudu around the studios of EbonyLife Television, which she founded in 2013, and Abudu explains the differences she found between serving as a host and a media owner.

Abudu tells the programme:

“The hardest part about the work of what we do is that sometimes people don't see the vision the way you see the vision. I know I have a responsibility to share the vision and communicate it for them to see it so they can buy into it.”

EbonyLife Television airs in both the United Kingdom and across the Caribbean, whilst some of the films produced by the network have taken place through deals with global brands such as Disney.

For Abudu, the success of EbonyLife just further demonstrated the potential within Africa:

“We've got incredible talent here and the world needs to know. That's why it's important for us to ensure that EbonyLife Television as a platform can sit in a global space because the world must respect us, they must see us and must understand who we are as Africans. Especially this generation… There are so many stories that we have not told in Africa that I think that we can share with the world.”

Senator Melaye’s WASC Results Show He Had Only Three Credits

SaharaReporters has obtained Senator Dino Melaye's West African Examination Council (WAEC) result sheets showing that the embattled senator was a dismal student who earned only three credits.

The result sheet for the senator, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who represents Kogi West senatorial district, came from a secondary school attended by Mr. Melaye, even though he had kept that aspect of his academic history hidden from the public by scrubbing the school from his profile on the website of the Nigerian Senate.

His results, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, reveal that Senator Melaye, whose name on the result sheets was registered as Daniel Jonah O. Melaiye, only made three credits in Christian Religious Studies (C5), Agricultural Science (A3) and Biology (C6).

Princess Caroline and Charlotte Casiraghi Show How Royals Do Chanel at the Rose Ball

Princess Caroline and Charlotte Casiraghi Show How Royals Do Chanel at the Rose Ball

As far as fail-safe red carpet options go, it doesn’t get much better than Chanel. The storied French house has a seemingly endless supply of elegant yet arresting looks and Karl Lagerfeld’s designs often boast cross-generational appeal. Chanel’s versatility was on display this weekend at the Rose Ball in Monte Carlo, where Monaco’s royal family stepped out in a mix of modern and vintage.

Charlotte Casiraghi wore a stately black archival dress from a 1996 haute couture collection that was covered in lace vines and had a glamorous plunging neckline. Worn with Marcel waves, red lipstick, and a lengthy diamond earring, the look was movie-star–worthy and totally befitting the granddaughter of Grace Kelly.

That said, it was Princess Caroline who emerged as the evening’s true risk-taker. She wore a bold black-and-white number covered in diamond-shaped patterns, hand-drawn roses, and layers of ruffles that were designed to mirror the evening’s floral theme.

Arsenal thrash Lincoln 5-0 to reach FA Cup semi-finals

Non-league Lincoln City’s astonishing run in the FA Cup came to an end on Saturday as Arsenal remained on course for a 13th title by reaching the semi-finals. Lincoln, 88 places below their Premier League opponents, held their own for much of the first half and even went close to scoring when Petr Cech saved Nathan Arnold’s curled effort.

However, Theo Walcott’s deflected strike gave the Gunners the lead on the stroke of half-time and Olivier Giroud put the hosts in control with a clinical strike just after the break. Lincoln’s dreams of a fight back were dashed when Luke Waterfall scored an own goal, turning in Kieran Gibbs’ cross. Alexis Sanchez added a brilliant fourth, expertly placing the ball beyond Lincoln goalkeeper Paul Farman’s reach, before Aaron Ramsey completed the win when he tapped in from Sanchez’s cross. It was ultimately a routine victory for Arsenal and perhaps eased some of the pressure on Arsene Wenger, who is bidding for his seventh FA Cup triumph as Gunners boss. Newsmen report that a protest was held before the game by around 200 fans urging the club to not give the 67-year-old a new contract when his current deal expires this summer. The other FA Cup quarterfinals match also played earlier today (Saturday) saw Manchester City beat Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Riverside Stadium. Goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero gave Manchester City a deserved win over Middlesbrough and earned Pep Guardiola’s side a place in the FA Cup semi-finals. City have reached the last four of the FA Cup for the first time in four years as Guardiola aims to win some silverware in his first season in English football. The Spanish manager also had the luxury of taking off Sane and Aguero before City play the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie in Monaco on Wednesday. City hold a 5-3 lead after a thrilling first leg.
