Princess Caroline and Charlotte Casiraghi Show How Royals Do Chanel at the Rose Ball
As far as fail-safe red carpet options go, it doesn’t get much better than Chanel. The storied French house has a seemingly endless supply of elegant yet arresting looks and Karl Lagerfeld’s designs often boast cross-generational appeal. Chanel’s versatility was on display this weekend at the Rose Ball in Monte Carlo, where Monaco’s royal family stepped out in a mix of modern and vintage.
Charlotte Casiraghi wore a stately black archival dress from a 1996 haute couture collection that was covered in lace vines and had a glamorous plunging neckline. Worn with Marcel waves, red lipstick, and a lengthy diamond earring, the look was movie-star–worthy and totally befitting the granddaughter of Grace Kelly.
That said, it was Princess Caroline who emerged as the evening’s true risk-taker. She wore a bold black-and-white number covered in diamond-shaped patterns, hand-drawn roses, and layers of ruffles that were designed to mirror the evening’s floral theme.
