You may not be able to use WhatsApp in 2017, Check Your Smartphone.




Earlier this year, WhatsApp announced that it would end support for some of the older smartphones by the end of 2016. The company will phase out these devices as it plans to focus efforts on the mobile platforms which majority of people use.
WhatsApp mentioned in its blog post, “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future.”
WhatsApp Messenger will no longer work on the following mobile platforms:

- BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10

- Nokia S40

- Nokia Symbian S60

- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2

- Windows Phone 7

- iPhone 3GS/iOS 6

The company added, “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future.” However, WhatsApp stated that it is extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017.
