Leicester City 3-1 Liverpool: Foxes return to form

Jamie Vardy and Leicester City provided a thrilling reminder of the form that took them to the Premier League title last season four days too late for dethroned boss Claudio Ranieri, as a limp Liverpool were dispatched 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.

A home crowd peppered with banners paying tribute to the amiable Italian, who was sacked last Thursday following a run of five consecutive top-flight defeats, had no cause to approach mutiny as their side located an intensity and drive sorely lacking over recent weeks. Tow goals from Vardy on either side of Danny Drinkwater's wonder strike gave Leicester a 3-goal cushion by the hour mark.

Coutinho scored a consolation goal for the Reds at the end.

Barcelona looking to persuade Isco to join as a free agent in 2018

Barcelona are hoping to poach Isco from Real Madrid in 2018 by attempting to convince him not to extend his contract in the Spanish capital, according to reports in Spain.

The Catalans believe they have nothing to lose approaching Isco and would relish the opportunity to get one over on Madrid president Florentino Perez, who has made overtures to Neymar, Iniesta and even Luis Suarez while they ply their trade at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have indicated to the Spain international that they have always rated him highly and only the presence of stalwarts such as Xavi and Iniesta in their line-up previously prevented them making a formal approach.

While revered by the Bernabeu faithful and having turned down opportunities from around Europe to leave in the past, Isco is aware that he faces limited playing time should he stay on at the club he joined from Malaga in 2013.

Pope makes historic visit to Rome Anglican church

Pope Francis attended a service at the All Saints ’ Church in Rome on Sunday , becoming the first pontiff in history to visit an Anglican church in the Italian capital.

Francis ’s visit marked the 200th anniversary of the All Saints ’ church , furthering a rapprochement between the Vatican and the Anglican Church of England that began last year .

In a further sign of the closer ties, the pope spoke of the “ possibility” of a visit to troubled South Sudan with the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby , his Anglican counterpart.

Pope Francis added that such a visit would only be for a single day “because the situation is difficult there” .

South Sudan , which only gained nationhood in 2011 , has been engulfed since 2013 by a civil war which has left thousands dead and three million people displaced .

“ As Catholics and Anglicans , we are humbly grateful that , after centuries of mutual mistrust, we are now able to recognizee that the fruitful grace of Christ is at work also in others ,” the pope said in a sermon on Sunday.

“ Today we can be encouraged by our gathering .”

Closer ties with other faiths and branches of Christianity have been a priority for Francis since he became pope in 2013 .

Last October , he attended a special service in Rome with Welby to mark the 50 th anniversary of the first joint prayer of a Catholic pontiff and a head of the Church of England.
The service marked the historic meeting between then archbishop Michael Ramsey and Pope Paul VI .

The Church of England broke away from the Roman Catholic church under British King Henry VIII in the 16th Century , and Anglicans have not recognised the pontiff as their spiritual leader since then .

Sacked Ranieri says goodbye to Leicester stars

sacked Claudio Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri visited
Leicester City’s
training ground on Saturday to say farewell to his former players and staff after his shock sacking.

Ranieri had visited the club’s Belvoir Drive headquarters to clean out his office on Friday following his dismissal 24 hours earlier.

But the 65-year-old Italian was unable to say goodbye to the players who helped him become a Leicester legend during last season’s incredible Premier League title-winning campaign because they were on a day off.

So he returned on Saturday to have a last meeting with the group following the decision to sack him, which was made by the club’s Thai owners after Leicester slumped into the relegation dogfight with five successive league defeats.

“I just say thank you to the fans. They are fantastic. Thank you,” Ranieri said when questioned by Sky Sports News as he drove away.

“I feel good now, because what we achieved in Leicester. I hope it will happen again, but it will be very difficult.”

Asked if it had been an emotional meeting with his players, he insisted it had been “normal”.

Leicester go into Monday’s crucial clash with Liverpool sitting only one point above the relegation zone, but the occasion will be overshadowed by Ranieri’s absence.

“My dream died,” he had said in a statement on Friday.

“After the euphoria of last season and being crowned Premier League champions all I dreamt of was staying with Leicester City, the club I love, for always.

“Sadly this was not to be. I wish to thank my wife Rosanna and all my family for their never ending support during my time at Leicester.

“Mostly I have to thankLeicester City Football Club. The adventure was amazing and will live with me forever.

“Thank you to all the journalists and the media who came with us and enjoyed reporting on the greatest story in football.”

Reports claim Ranieri was a victim of player power after several senior players grew unhappy with the Italian’s tactical tinkering and told the owners they would be relegated if he stayed.

But Foxes caretaker boss Craig Shakespeare dismissed the rumours of dressing-room unrest.

“I’m not aware of any senior players going to the owners so that’s news to me,” he said on Friday.

“What I would say, there was a lot of frustration because of results but he hadn’t lost the dressing room.”

The Central Bank of Nigeria reintroduces charges on cash deposits, withdrawals

CBN reintroduced

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday announced that they have reintroduced bank charges on certain categories of cash deposits and withdrawals.
This came about three years after the apex bank stopped the charges.

In a circular to all Deposit Money Banks posted on its website, the regulator said the decision to reintroduce the charges on cash deposits was part of the review of charges on deposits and withdrawals under the cashless policy.

It said the decision was taken at the Bankers’ Committee meeting, which held in Abuja two weeks
ago.

The circular, signed by the Director, Banking and Payments System Department, CBN, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, stated that the committee decided that the cashless policy should be extended to the remaining 30 states of the federation.

It also directed that with effect from April 1, 2017 :

> Banks in the states where the cashless policy was already operating, Lagos, Ogun, Anambra, Abia, Kano, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory, would begin to impose charges on deposits and withdrawals above N500,000.

> Banks will from that date begin to charge individuals 1.5% and 2% for deposits and withdrawals between N500,000 and N1m.

> Individuals depositing or withdrawing between N1m and N5m will be charged 2% and 3%, respectively.

> For amounts above N5m, banks will charge such individuals 3% and 7.5% for deposits and withdrawals, respectively.

This means any cash withdrawal or deposit by an individual under N500,000 would not attract any charge.

With regard to corporate customers, the CBN stated:

> That deposits and withdrawals under N3m would not attract any charge ,
but that customers depositing or withdrawing between N3m and N10m would be charged two per cent and five per cent, respectively.

> Also for deposits and withdrawals between N10m and N40m, customers will be charged three per cent and 7.5 per cent, respectively.

> Deposits or withdrawals above N40m by corporate customers will attract a charge of five per cent and 10 per cent, respectively.

According to the CBN, the new policy on charges will be implemented in selected states on May 1 and August 1, this year; while the total implementation will be concluded on October 1.

The regulator noted that the committee agreed that income generated from the processing fees above the allowable cash limits would be shared between it and the banks in the ratio of 40:60.

However, the CBN said that existing exemptions to the policy such as revenue generating agencies of the federal, state and local governments (for lodgements) will be sustained. Also exempt from the processing fees are embassies, diplomatic missions, multilateral and aid agencies.

The CBN directed lenders to train their employees to enlighten customers on the new policy.

Neymar, FC Barcelona to stand trial on corruption charges

becelona neymar - bennaija

FC Barcelona player Neymar and his club will stand trial on corruption charges over his transfer from Brazilian team Santos, after losing a final appeal.

The case relates to a complaint from Brazilian investment group DIS, which owned 40 per cent of Neymar’s transfer rights.

claims it received less money than it was entitled to when Neymar joined Barca from Santos for £49 million in 2013.

Santos FC, Neymar’s mother and a company run by the 25-year-old footballer’s parents will also face charges.

“Santos FC, FC Barcelona, Neymar, his mother Nadine Goncalves and N&N, the family company, have lost their appeals to have charges of fraud and corruption dropped,” the Spanish High Court said in a statement on Monday.

NAN reports that they cannot appeal against the court’s decision.

Prosecutors are seeking a two-year prison sentence and a fine of nearly £8 million for Neymar.
However, even if the Brazil international were found guilty he would be unlikely to go to jail.

Under the Spanish legal system, prison terms of under two years are typically suspended.

Prosecutors are also seeking a fine of about £7.2 million for FC Barcelona and £5.6 million for Santos.

Barca thought they had brought the affair to a close when a judge archived the case in June.

But Spain’s public prosecutor successfully overturned the ruling in September, allowing the case to proceed.

Neymar’s FC Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi was sentenced to 21 months in prison for tax fraud in July of last year.
He has since appealed against the sentence.

“ I am very happy for this moment, for the first goal – even more so because it gave this important victory to us ,” he said . “ I waited for this moment, I worked hard, because I knew that in one moment I would score. This moment will never leave my head.

“ Since my arrival here I have worked hard, with great seriousness and professionalism .I know how much I can help Inter. ”

Inter Milan coach Stefano Pioli told his squad “ we ’ve achieved nothing yet ” after watching them record a ninth win in 10 games by beating Bologna 1 -0 .

[Must Read] 10 Things You Should Let Go Of...

1. Stop wasting your time watching rubbish on TV
How many times have you sat through an entire TV programme and then ended up complaining about how awful it was? This experience is too common not to learn from. Be proactive. Switch off the TV when a programme is boring and put that time to use for something more productive.
2. Putting on your makeup before you go to the gym
Makes no sense. Because you are only going to get hot and sweaty when you work out and the makeup is going to wear off and spread haphazardly, making you look horrible and feel uncomfortable. So, really, why bother putting it on in the first place? Give makeup a miss and you’ll be surprised how much time you’ll save. Besides, ultimately, no one will notice anyway – it’s a gym, remember?
3. Worrying about what other people think
A useful tip on how to stop wasting time and become happier is to stop stressing about people’s opinion of you, as it’s an utter waste of your time. So long as you are happy with who you are, that’s all that counts. You won’t change other people’s mind about you anyway, so let them get on with it. Let it go.

4. Posting everything you do on social media
Are you a media house covering your own life? Are you one of those people who take photos of every event of the day and then pass it on as news onto your followers on social media? Work out how much time you are wasting on that and then ask yourself if the whole world really needs to know what you had for lunch or what you saw on your way to the shop.
5. Gossiping
Okay, admittedly, gossiping can be fun, but you have to draw the line somewhere. No one can resist a little bit of gossip, but it won’t actually get you anywhere with anything. Trim down your daily gossip quota and spend more time on yourself.
6. Chasing unrequited love
If you don’t seem to be making headway with your crush, then take the hint and give up the pursuit. If a person really isn’t interested into you, you should be able to accept things the way they are, and also to have the strength to move on.
7. Worrying about the past
You can’t change the past, so why worry about it? Think about it. Wallowing in regret, wondering if you could have done something differently, won’t make any difference to what you actually did. Forget it. Concentrate on what you are doing right now and how you can do it well and with happiness.
cool.
8. Doing things that you hate doing
If you hate doing it, why on earth are you doing it at all? Life is short, so fill it with the things that you enjoy. If it’s a chore that absolutely has to be done, then get it done quickly. If it’s something that isn’t essential then leave it and move on to something that will be fun and worthwhile.

9. Following the path that is getting you nowhere
This piece of advice applies equally to relationships and careers. If a chosen path doesn’t appear to be leading where you want it to, then change directions fast. Don’t waste your time being stuck within a place without passion and happiness. Get out and explore new opportunities – you’ll be surprised how many there are.
10. Complaining about how bad your life is
Look, everyone has issues. If you really do think that life has dealt you a bad hand, then deal with it and try and recover! Keep going. Complaining won’t fix any problems, so stand up for yourself and make the changes. You are the architect of your own happiness – take this job seriously.
